Help us bring history to life by supporting the Venice Mexican American Traquero Monument—an enduring tribute to the unsung heroes who built California’s railroads from the 1870s to the 1930s.
These workers, known as traqueros, labored tirelessly under harsh conditions, laying the tracks that connected our state’s cities and communities, yet their contributions have long been overlooked in the narrative of California's growth.
Located in the heart of Venice at Windward Circle, this monument will be a striking bronze sculpture, designed by renowned Mexican artist Jorge Marin. It will depict a proud traquero worker on the tracks, hand-in-hand with his family, symbolizing strength, resilience, and the generational impact of their work. It will be a place of education, remembrance, and community pride, giving descendants and the public a space to honor this vital part of our shared history.
Your donation will not only help complete the monument by 2025 but also ensure it is maintained for future generations. Every contribution will be used for the construction, upkeep, and educational programming that will surround this powerful landmark.
